"KING EDWARD'S FIVE WAYS GRAMMAR SCHOOL FOR BOYS, Hagley Road (1883–1958); Scotland Lane, Bartley Green (1958). Opened in buildings of former Edgbaston Proprietary Sch. which had been enlarged to accom. 300. Nearly half original pupils came from Middle Sch. in New St. Also took all pupils from Bath Row Sch. (see p. 554 and below; Hutton, King Edw.'s Sch. 189, 193). Moved to new premises in Scotland Lane 1958. 350 B c. 1908 (V.C.H. Warws. ii. 355), 550 1952 (Hutton, K.E.'s Sch. 191). N.o.b. 1961: 668."

A few fellow pupils' names I remember - R.L. Brown, P.H.G Smith, K.Cole, 2 more Smiths, Jones, Skelsey, Teague (Still thinking. We used surnames mainly)
Teachers I remember - F Gadd (English), Scott?, Whitehouse? (Sports, Rugby), Burgess (Headmaster), Gadd (Physics, Science), Nan-nickname (Chemistry, Science), Carter (P.T(E). , sport) -- (Still thinking)

You could see a big reservoir nearby with a dam at Frankley Beaches. I think that the water came in masssive pipes from Wales and was used in Birmingham to wash me and other Brummies, amongst other things.

I have great respect for this school and its teachers. I can remember learning about all sorts of things in science, English, geography, biology and many other things. I also learned rational thought, how to listen and learn and how to be a useful human (I hope).

As there are/have been several KEG schools in and around Birmingham, I have edited the title of this thread and, for information, added information on post #1 about the school. The Scotland Lane, Bartley Green site opened in 1958.
 
Thanks Viv (Vivienne14). Indeed, my uncle, I was told, attended a KEG school in Birmingham. That was probably why I fetched up in a KEG school. I think there may have been KEG girls school but I'm not sure. Kentish Brummie! How? There must have been language difficulties?
