In the 1780s according to a local information sign the pool was formed by damming the brook to form a canal feeder reservoir. I lived close by from 1950s to late 70s but the pool was used for fishing and access was restricted.When I was old enough to roam I explored the brook (though I didn't know what it was called), but never the pool area. It was renovated in 2013.

Ponds, pools, streams & rivers are like people magnets!
Edgbaston Pool (which I'd wrongly assumed to be a reference to Edgbaston Reservoir) can be accessed from Winterbourne Gardens after paying for admission and is part of the Calthorpe Estate and is managed by the golf club which occupies Edgbaston Hall. There's a wooded site and the pool. The paths were wet and muddy in September, so boots / wellies necessary. I came upon the pool by chance and had no idea what it was called!

We sat in a similar place when we visited the pool last year. Must look out the photo and see if it was the same bench!

Yes. Below is a (bad) copy of part of the original Sherriff map . In the middle bottom edge you can just about read where the osier pits are in a plot marked Kendall. In the 1815 Wrightson's directory, Richard Kendall is a basket maker in Castle Street

Splasshed about in there many times as a kid, my brother in law Paddy Cox who I never met drowned in the pool.

Low Brook (1902) — starting east of Elmdon Heath and just north of the railway line. It runs north to meet the Hatchford Book, and where they meet they become Kingshurst Brook. The Kingshurst Brook then flows east to join the River Cole near Coleshill Parkway…The Cole continues northeast and eventually joins the River Blythe near Blythe Mill.

Is there a history somewhere of those mills and what they worked or does someone know?

Low brook is also identified within Birmingham airport. It's shown running across the northern side of the terminal area and parallel to the runway.
