I took these 3 photos from the 24th floor of Alpha Tower in 1984. They're not brilliant photos but might be of interest. The first is probably the most interesting as it shows the view across to the Opposite Lock Club, canal etc. The second photo is the view over, what was then, the Holiday Inn. The third is looking towards the Town Hall. Viv.

From the Library you can see these buildings, used zoom, they might be in the Jewellery Quarter (or not) are they being rebuilt or demolished ?

Possibly to do with a new University College Birmingham Campus. (formerly the College of Food).

I may be wrong but I don't believe there has ever been public access to the top of Birmingham's BT Tower. Not sure if the Mail were ever granted the OK to go up there might be worth an email to them.

Apparently it was decided by the architects not to add a public viewing tower to the design. These are a couple of photo from the top of the tower I believe.

I had access about 20 years ago with our radio club, the visit was organised by a member of our club who was a manager there. The last stage to the highest point within the tower was made up a vertical wall ladder about 20 foot high and whilst climbing I dropped my camera, one Practika ended up in bits on the floor, so no photos from me. Will see if anyone else in the club still has copies of any.
