Hi Folks.

Happy New Year to everbody, hope you all had a nice Christmas.

Can anyone help me?Can anyone tell me where this picture was taken,i?I think both trams went to Salford Bridge but i cant imagine where it was taken.
Moss.

Mossg---- I think it,s down by Aston Station the no.2 tram is hiding the Britania Pub the shop in the foreground is now the snooker shop. Dek

I think the angle is deceiving i think the building on the left is so close that it is hiding the larger part of the bridge and the part that you cas see is the first section of the viaduct. Dek

Charles Wade & co was the Midland Iron Works, in Aston Road, which can be seen on the map. therefore the tram must be down around where it says brass foundry on the map, or possibly slightly nearer Wades. It would still be on Aston road.

Thanks Mike,i can see it now.So the building on the left before Chas Wades is probably Midland Counties dairy.

The two trams are in Aston Street beyond Gosta Green with Corporation Street in the background

This picture is oppisite the Old Midland Counties Dairy where you used to see the bottle washing taking place behind a large glass window, the builders yard on the right was also fireplace showrooms it was Bertam Bennett they moved down I think to New John Street.

This picture is 2 stops down from Gosta Green and 2 stops up from Premier Motors at Datmouth Street.

Routes and terminii were sometimes altered, 17 for instance changed its city terminus from High St to Dale End in 1921, and as routes were extended often (but nor always) new numbers were given to the extended route, the old number remaining for short workings to the original terminus.
This information extracted from three sources, each slightly different!

Thank you Colin and Lloyd for this information.
Lloyd, does this mean that neither the 5 nor 81 went into the City. Moss.
