Birmingham on Sea

Would be great to see the old pier renovated, I remember when you could get a boat to Penarth from there in the 60s, to my mind this is what the lottery money should be used for to save this sort of thing from falling into disrepair.

Any one remember" shoestring" Tevor Eve, the episode part of which was shot in the old pier? with a very Young Miss T Wilcox .

Birnbeck Pier 1950's with the paddle steamers, and one of The Grand Pier.

Its wonderful to see the pier coming back to its former glory. I had feared it would become just a name in a history book and a faded picture on a post card.

Dave the Italian company who were going to build the tower have pulled out so they are looking for other firms to tender for it,but it wont hold up the opening which scheduled to open in June/July

Dek found it on my way back from the Old Pier, there is property called that in the area, on the net, but not on the site as seen on my visit last July Dave

Dave no wonder it didn,t ring a bell i thought you may have posted on the wrong thread now i know it,s in Weston.cheers mate. Dek

Dave, thanks for your great pics of the Old Pier. Given the neglect it has suffered in recent years it's amazing what still survives. A credit to the original builders but in desperate need of some TLC now.

Surprisingly they haven't ragga, (took a good while to check!!) Thanks for those.. The bandstand brought me back happy memories of my Granpa playing side drum on there with the Bath Spa Imperial Band of a summer Sunday in the 1950's.
