It's a bit like Marmite. You either love Weston, and Brean, or hate it!
Personally, I hate the place.
When I lived in Brum, I preferred to go about the same distance, up the other way, to the lake District Or spend an extra hour on the motorway and go to Devon and North Cornwall.
I suppose I prefer the scenery to the hustle and bustle seasidey resorts.

Carnival to night folks, and Leryyngal i like marmite and the air down here in Weston is the best in the country thats why all the convalescent homes where built here for the miners ect; and one of the reasons why i choose to live here:P

I think Lerryngal is right love or hate, i love Weston but people have often said Weston!
when i have said i am going there as if i had said i'm going to the moon, but thats fine
it would be very funny if we all were the same i have put some photographs in an album
old 1930ish i can't figure out how to put them on the thread but i shall keep trying there are only a couple so far, there was a fire in 1929 that destroyed the grand pier and it had
to be rebuilt then ,its amazing to see how people dressed to go to the beach, liz

Love Brean spent many years in the mid 60s on that beach with our young family, BUT THAT SEA!!!! NEVER SEEN MY KIDS SO MUDDY.
Will be spending NEW YEAR (First time ever away at this time of year) at PONTINS Brean with our eldest boys family, so I am sure lots of memories will be comming back from Hot summer days of the swinging sixties.

Well said, and thank you for defending me Elizabeth.
I didn't see the sea till I was 13 years old, and Weston was the very first seaside place I was ever taken to . I took one look at it and thought o.m.g. is this this it? I didn't like the look of the place back in the late 60's, and I still don't now, but as I have said, I prefer lovely scenery and quiet villages to 'kiss me quick hats' amusement arcades and funfairs. We ARE all different!
By the way, I don't like Blackpool either, for the same reasons.
