- Isn't the man singing in mourning of a relationship ending which he thinks he can never replace (I'll never have that recipe again.) MacArthur Park is melting in the dark thinking of his visit there with his lost love. I must admit i found the words rather silly, and some people say he made it to prove you make a number one out of rubbish, who knows rather catchy though
I believe McArthur park was part of a ( Rock ? ) opera that never got finshed, If it had, and you knew the story, it might make sense. Same goes for 'Grocer Jack'.
Have to agree though, when it came out i thought it was rubbish, still do actually !

This is one of my favourite bands do you remember them, they are still working, they come from Aston![]()
Gilbert O'Sullivan,a couple of the things he done were ok,had sort of forgot about him,Rupert no clue?Bobby Goldsboro, didn't he hug necks and plant trees in the snow( oill give it 1) i didn't say i liked him, just wondering what it was aboutLook guys, not withstanding trying to big it up as some unfinished McArthur Park Rock Opera, or some other cerebral 'King's New Clothes' mantra that might excuse it's awfulness; to try and equate unrequited love to baking a hot cross bun just doesn't do it for me. No way. It is pants and that's a fact. Glad you agree Fatfingers. Sorry Elizabeth. Could I tempt you to be rude about say some of the other folk I used to shout at the Telly at? Gilbert O'Sullivan? Rupert Holmes? Bobby (gulp) Goldsboro perhaps..?
Froggy a legendThe most underrated singer/songwriter since Little Willie John. Brilliant bloke and a true Brummie. Love him to pieces. Good call.
Very enlightening ! !
Who are you talking about ? ? ?
Betty Hopper
Ok, this is a bit of a twist to this thread I admit, inspired by my American idol Dave Barry. BAD records. For example who can top the following stonkingly crapola liddle bits of the following so called Hits? Bits of songs that are so Bad, they stick like earwigs in your brain and you CAN"T HELP SINGING THEM even though you would rather maybe chew on a Giant Roll of Tinfoil or put lighted matches to your hair...
Of course, there may be others....?
Rather embarrassing, The Wombles Album! Had a record voucher for Xmas pestered me Dad to take me into WHSmiths to spend it, he got a parking ticket I got me record! Was quickly followed by Band On The Run by Wings, can anyone name all the celebs on the cover?
Oh Frank Ifield had forgot about him great voice,*your the one who made my dreams*loved it1st record bought Diana by Paul Anka. Me and my 2 bruvvers used to put 2bob each every week and then whose ever choice it was put the extra 4d and bought it from the record shop on 'The Flat'. Did anyone hear Frank Ifield I remember you this morning on Radio 2 - what a great sing along song and surprised I still remember the words.
