Music can stir up all sorts of emotions. As I was reading this thread, my hubby is watching The Dambusters on DVD. Funnily enough the theme music to this film always brings tears to my eyes. I've no idea why. I wasn't born until 20 odd years after WW2 ended. But to me, the music is essentially British. It makes me proud to be English and proud of the sacrifices all our countrymen and women made.

Just checked on Youtube and it is listed, if you are feeling stressed try listening to 'Leaving Rome' by Jo Jo Bennett.

I bought this record in 1969/70 and still love it. Wonderfully calming ........ zzz

Let me know what you think

Kieth,

You are right with Roy Kinnear, can't recall the film though:(

paraman

O yes Norma Danny Boy does it for me too -I am very much into the classics and military music

On a lighter note Latin music Tangos Rumbas - know most of them they just send me - love to dance. . .

Oh mien papa by eddie calvert reminds me of my father who died when i was seventeen, also the same by eddie fisher, it gets me really emotional

Nice to give the classics an airing. I love the aria from Lachme, can't remember what is called at this minute. It goes Daaaa Da Da Da, Daaaa Da Da Da - know the one I mean. :D

Is it this one Di

Nessen Dorma does it for me. It was moms favourite and was played at her funeral along with singing in the rain. Jean.

This might sound a bit strange but when I had finally had enough of my womenising ex and decided that it was enough, as I was putting all my stuff together to leave he played Chicargo's If you leave me now" It still hurts a bit after 30yrs, silly or what

There was a Birmingham wrestler and tv actor by the name of Pat roach [a big man] who when asked by Edd Doolan what brought tears to his eyes he said every time he heard Oh Danny boy. It has that effect on a lot of people a beautiful song. It was one of the first pieces of music I learned to play on the piano. Still have the copy in my music stool. Jean.

Alf, I got fed up of all the boom boom and bang bang music when I was on the doors. I like the Damone and ol Blue eyes style now. I do listen to some military stuff and I quite like some of the more traditional style country music, but there is nothing and nobody in todays music scene I would go outside the door to see/listen to.

Trev don't tell Patty that her grandsons in a group.:shh::shh::shh:. Jean. Only kidding they are quite good. Give them a try.
