tidy up please

Odd - it looked OK on my laptop but when I checked it on a bigger screen it looked a bit rubbish. Here's another go.

Is there any way to improve these two damaged snaps please? I know you can't do anything about the faces but it's the buildings I'm really interested in. They are taken in Bridge Road which is now under Spaghetti Junction. I'm not sure if the houses at the end are in Leamington Road or Copeley Hill.

Lady P the file size is quite small, can you re-scan them at a higher resolution to give us half a chance of doing something with them.

PS admins, is it possible not to have watermarked photos?

Note if the actual physical width of the pic is increased (maintaining aspect ratio) to 1400 pixels or more the watermark will show very small. I did it in post#284 and #294

ps: this does not significantly alter the file size or resolution and the forum software reduces the pic physical size to fit the page width.

Hi Again, before I try anything to technical I realised that I had automatically downsized the snaps before posting. Thought I'd just see if this makes a difference so here are the original scans. Thanks.

Thanks oldMohawk, mush better. I can even read the road sign. I think it must be the silver jubilee of George V. The girl 2nd right, back row, is my Auntie Eileen, born 1920 so she would be 15 on the photo.

Hi Lady P ... I had a go at the second pic but it was rather tricky for me with freebie apps.
I had some trouble with the garden wall so had to rebuild it but it could be blurred out.
I have left the pic same size as you uploaded but put a white area on the bottom to hide the watermark. If you save it you can crop the white area off.

Hi again oldMohawk, I shared the photos above with my cousin who spent more time in Bridge Road than I did. She thought the restoration you had done was great and said that she could remember the 'feel' of the gatepost that my mother is resting on, but neither of us can remember the iron railings which are on both photos. I do remember the knob in the middle of the door and the paintwork that was dulled through age and sunshine. The two men at the back are our fathers, mine is on the right in the picture. Thank you again.

Another favour please. Could someone take out the mark on the beach photo please? Also, is there anything that can be done to 'sharpen' the other picture please.

Second picture is a bit grainy unfortunately. I'll try again later unless someone else does a better job first!
