Thank you it's much better, they look so young. It's my father-in-law when he was out in Singapore RAF Selectar, and 209 squadron Sutherland flying boats. He was a mechanic on the areoplanes in 1945.

Note: If anyone has Windows 10 and has a photo which just needs brightening and sharpening slightly, then the built-in 'Photos' app can be used and it is quite good for simple improvements.

The 2nd image in post#345 shown in the 'Photos' app.


After using the simple 'Photos' editing controls the same photo would look like this and a copy saved.

Hi Dave, Just asked father-in-law he said he can't remember sorry, 1945/6 but his memory not what it was now at 89 yrs old.

The Photo Edit program I mostly use is the freebie Gimp2 ... I first tried it on the forum in 2014 ... how time flies !
