Llanidloes station, with southbound Mid-Wales line train.View northward, towards Moat Lane Junction: ex-Cambrian Railway Mount Lane - Builth - Three Cocks line. Back in 1949, ex-Cambrian or ex-GW 0-6-0's worked most of the traffic on this line, which was closed on 31/12/62 although goods traffic continued as far as Llanidloes until 4/5/64. No. 2483 is a GW 'Dean Goods' 0-6-0 (built 5/1896, withdrawn 9/52).

As an ex-pat Brummy now living near Aberystwyth, this photo is special. It's a pity that the nice straight road which bypasses Llanidloes was built on the formation of this very line through the old Llanidloes station. At least the impressive former station building still exists right alongside the road.

the Dirtier they are the better they look:)
9400 class pannier tank No.9490 was built at Swindon in 1954 and was based at Worcester from March 1960 until withdrawn at the end of 1964. This photograph was taken on 9th May 1964 and shows the locomotive in one of the centre roads at Worcester Shrub Hill station.
