Another aspect of the cashless society which people accept without any thought. It is suggested that it it to our benefit - occasionally it is - but the real reason, I feel it is far more profitable for the car park owners to make even more money without their effort.

Yes, they made savings by not having to employ someone to sit in a car park kiosk or to travel to their car parks to empty the money out of their ticket machines. Sacking them may have slightly increased the money they make, but it didn't add to customer service and it added to the ranks of the unemployed. :(
