COv and Brum and I suspect other large Cities have street with the same name. So what who or where was/is Chandos? Nico
Thanks wiganden working from a dodgy memoryI went to chandos school for a few years and it was next to highgate park and led to shawbury grove to the flats where i lived in 1961 to 1966,i can remember a few names and still have a few memories of living there.
So he could have named it then as a Master Builder. The Long Mynd is not that far really. Google says 1hr and 11 minutes from Brum Centre. It didn't curtail my BF anyway who drove around with a caravan in tow from job to job. He built houses factories and schools as was the building boom then, in Droitwich, Birmingham, (hence me) Shropshire, Stourbridge, Coventry, Worcester etc etc even Derbyshire and Stoke. Thanks for that information. NicoRoads are named by the local authority but usually property developers are allowed to make recommendations. The Long Mynd is in south Shropshire quite a long way from Birmingham.
This building is still there with the same street nameplates and some of the trim above the windows left
Nan called these swingle boats at the fair. She said barkers swung them by ropes. If they fancied you the higher you went.View attachment 87683Small heath Park boat swings 1900 ish
