Hi - my mother Carol Diane Underhill gave birth to me on January 11th 1958 and we spent 6 weeks at Lynwood House until I was adopted. Sadly I have never seen her since but believe she may still be in Birmingham - or was until a few years ago. I know she married David Snape in the 1960’s.

Looking for info about this young mother and baby home run by the Salvation Army. Any info of conditions, support given to mums or anything of any relevence really in late 1950s early 1960s.

I have used this website before now but it costs around £20 and be aware some people are very sensitive regarding how information about them has been sourced. Last date on here is 2016 but they could have moved to somewhere outside of Birmingham.

the problem i have is there is another marriage for a david A snape to a veronica P busby birm in 1964...so we cant be certain this is the same man who married your mom in 1959...was it a second marriage for him...its all guess work really...all you know for certain is that your mom married a david A snape in 1959...have you thought about buying the 1959 marriage certificate it may give you some more info ? its a start
