Just found this old photo of my family on holiday. I think its Weston Super Mare, but not sure. I am sure someone will confirm yes or no. thanks Carol

carolina looks like it, the fountain has been serviced and replaced in the new gardens :), have new pics in time :)

Thanks Dave, I have photos of holidays and not sure as there are some of Southport, Ramsgate and Gt Yarmouth but I was pretty sure this one was Weston.

I've been to Weston-super-Mare many times. The last time I went in March 2009 I got photos of the Pier and other things along the sea front. (about a year before restoration work)

No, it was before I started taking photos of pubs, and was on my old camera (that I had to replace a few months after that when I started taking photos in Birmingham).

We went in March 2009, when it was off season, coming back from a week in Somerset.

I'm sure we went into the Indoor Market and TJ Hughes. Think we walked past a Quakers building (but didn't take any shots).

Was before I joined Flickr.

Hi all
just to let you all know that the weston toll
road is now free of charge.
Well worth a trip along between weston
to sand bay and kewstoke

These bring back some memories, we had to plan a trip for some residents and chose to take them to Weston, unfortunately it was very cold and the sea was nowhere to be seen - these were young mobile residents who promptly took off in various directions to look for the sea, the loo and somewhere warm so there we were trying to catch them all, must have lookked hilarious - it was before mobile phones existed and every time we got one group together someone else vanished. We did get them all back together to get on the coach and passed our assignment! Remember walking round some of the town on the cards well though.

Just how i remember it when i was knee high , early 60s ??
ragga :)

Just to the left of the Welcome to Weston Super Mare sign , there use to be a bar
I had some happy times in there , what was the name again ??
ragga :)

I remember the bar, but cannot for the life of me remember the name of it, there was a little aquarium thing, almost next to the public toilets, and a tiny shop that sold things made of shells,

Hope no one minds if I add my ‘ten penneth’.

Weston holds some very special memories for me, my mom died quite recently, which has left a wide open historical gap. I am sure you can all recall asking mom, ‘do you remember when…’ or ‘ what happened to…’’, ‘who was….’

Weston is a place our mom took us to on a day trip with Stockland Coaches March Hill. It tide may have been a mile out, it was muddy, but we were at the sea side with our mom, what more could an eight and eleven year old want?

Now as an historian, the Severn estuary holds a special place for me, for when I stand on the bank of the Severn estuary, and look out across that vast and beautiful landscape, I know that I am seeing this natural world through the eyes of the people who died a thousand years ago, and for a moment or two I succeed in engaging with the minds of the dead.
