Birmingham on Sea

Thats a great picture. I love the man all dressed up in his tie, waistcoat, jacket and hat and then you look down and he has his trouser legs rolled up - brilliant.
Thanks for posting it.
Polly :)

Love your photo Ragga. Thought I would put it on this thread that Jo Malin from Radio WM will be broadcasting for the pier this Thursday from 9/30 in the morning. Jean.

Polly if you listen in to Radio WM this Thursday at 9/30 Jo Malin will be doing a live broadcast and I think there is going to be a phone link to her show. Jean.

Thanks for the link Dave, shame but I reckon it will be worth wating for and it gives the corporation time to finish what looks to be good on the hoardings, the fountain and lawns in front the pier. That's another job that must be over running, the time it's been going on.
Mike

Polly it is going to be open all year round it used to close for the winter

Mossy

Now here is something you don't see in Burnham-on-Sea these days. Back in 1892 our great grandparents could have a flutter on the gee gees at the races on Burnham beach. The horses here are too fast for the old plate camera to cope with. Sea looks a bit rough as well but at least the tides only just gone out going by the wet sand on the 'course'.

Mike they train the trotters on the beach there now or did a couple of years ago. Great photo and by the way mine still turn out like that all blurred!!. Jean.

Good to see that John, reminded me of the old White Funnel paddlers that did the same run when I was a kid. Has the P.S.Waverley been round the Bristol Channel this Year?

I have not seen the Waverley this year Mke, when they pick up down here its at Dunball Wharf which is close to jcn. 23 of the M5. The Waverley website is quite interesting, the old boat goes all around Britain.

I have just decided I'm going down the front to have fish and chips i will be taking with me two slices of bread and butter:D:D:D when i lived in Brum if i had fish and chips 2 or 3 times a year

Fish and chips from the Regal cost £3. 60 they have gone up 10p got a nerve hey:D:D:D there is something different about sea side fish and chips

Mossy that sounds lovely, it is a beautiful day here too pity Tony has had to go to work otherwise we may have had a ride out, might even have joined you

Sitting on a sea wall eating a bag of chips/fish and chips while looking out at the sea is one of the best meals you can eat - perfect - enjoy them mossy.

Polly :)

Hope you enjoy [enjoyed] your fish and chips. That's what we will do at least once next week. Don't bother at home but we do love them when we are away whether it be at the seaside or not. Jean.

Watched a programme last night on the Home channel regarding a guest house and it was hilarious. The hotel inspector went in to help them up grade. The Hotel was the Saxonia. Eventually it was up graded a star. Watch it if you get the chance again. Jean.

G.G. missed that :(

The new pier which is opening tomorrow was on the BBC news this morning. It looks great and the weather looked nice and bright too. All you Westonians, have a great day tomorrow. Carol

Great news Carolynn. It was on National lunch time news as well. A true case of better late than never. Long live the New Grand Pier and all who sail in her!!!!
