    William Street City Centre

There were back houses in William Street Lozells, the family of a friend of mine at senior school lived in one, four houses that you got to through an entry. Perhaps that wasn't the case in the whole road?

    Hamstead Road Handsworth

Yes it must have been at some time, we lived in the area from the late 60s and the school looked the same then so the old building would have gone before that.

Brummies who moved to the USA

Slightly off topic geographically but one of my mother's cousins emigrated to Canada in the 50s and enjoyed a better life than he would have done in the UK, he ran his own business, learned to fly and had his own plane and the family had a holiday place in Florida.

Hallo Jez, I often look at your FB page and have been aware of the Archive for some years now! I don't live in Birmingham now but I think I have some old memorabilia of the Birmingham music scene somewhere, I'll have a look and let you know what I can find. Anne

    Take Me High Film

I guess it might have been filmed on a Sunday? It would have been fairly quiet as there was no Sunday trading then. I worked in Town around that time but I have no recollection of the parade.

I haven't seen the film (not really a Cliff Richard fan!) but I do remember it being filmed in Birmingham. Yes, I guess it's an interesting look at Brum in the 70s now.

    Forum problem August 2025

I've had it happen about 3 times but, as others have said, it's fine when I try again. I just thought it might be my phone connection as I don't have WiFi and it's a bit slow sometimes.

Suckling and Sons Ltd Camden Street

The name on the building looks like William Suckling - they were silversmiths according to this, no mention of munitions. Big Bear Records Birmingham

I remember Big Bear very well, the bands connected to the label used to appear together for mini festival events called Big Bear Follies (sometimes spelled Ffollies) - some great music!
