Interesting and Unusual Names

Another strange name across whilst researching a family tree - Kossuth Plato Hopkins (born Bham).

It's suggested that Kossuth may have Hungarian origins though no idea if it is in this case. Father was born in Bristol and mother was born in Jamaica and appears to be listed as a quadroon (a term I had to look up) on her baptism.

From the same source…

In the New Testament, Zebedee is the father of James and John, two of Jesus’s apostles (the “sons of Zebedee,” sometimes called “Boanerges” – “sons of thunder”).
He is described as a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee, with hired servants (Mark 1:20), suggesting he was reasonably prosperous.

I have some distant relatives who named the first 3 children Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Their next son was Daniel so still biblical related perhaps but after that another 6 children with common names.

And none of the 3 named any of their children after themselves.

Stafford had 11 children, the 'Zebedee' stayed with him. All his children having conventional names as did his siblings and parents.
