Great news and fingers crossed for a CAMRA listing. Surprised real ale is in decline. Pity.
I think so called 'craft beer' has muddied the waters. But I did have an Easter pint of Ulay's Pigs Ear at The Fleece Bretforton - recommended especially with a pie!Great news and fingers crossed for a CAMRA listing. Surprised real ale is in decline. Pity.

'Icing on the cake' as iconic Birmingham pub reopens
Closed for over a year, The Clifden is back open in Birmingham and new landlord Will Young spoke to BirminghamLive about a future goalwww.birminghammail.co.uk
Stokkie I couldn't agree more , being an old stick in the mud as I am , craft beers to me mean they look like a lager and they taste absolutely terribleI think so called 'craft beer' has muddied the waters. But I did have an Easter pint of Ulay's Pigs Ear at The Fleece Bretforton - recommended especially with a pie!

Yea i be paying alot of attention to them my younger family members will not understandLooks great!
Love the old radio cassettes they've got in there.
Ansells went for a Burton in 1981. I'm surprised that's 44 years ago! The cask conditioned mild stopped being produced in 2012.Great pics Lyn. I popped my head in there a few weeks ago and thought it looked good, if a little quirky as you say.
Talking of younger family members - one of mine said last night that he’d never heard of the Ansells Brewery…. Made me a bit sad I must admit!
Thank you for the update.lord clifden closed yet again but only for a short time they say..closing a pub for a kitchen refurb is nothing unusual however i do find it odd that it will yet again be under new management..the last owners only being there for just over a year. so begs the question who are the new owners

Future of Birmingham pub confirmed with major change on the way
Before the closure, the pub will pour pints one last time this weekwww.birminghammail.co.uk
thought it best to mention in case anyone had plans to visit however the church tavern just up from the clifden is open...spent a few times rolling out of there at 4 in the morning but great times.. hasten to add this was in the early 80sThank you for the update.
That doesn't sound too hopeful Lyn....I popped in there last year on a (non drinking!) pub crawl, it seems so hard to keep a pub up and running these days....lord clifden closed yet again but only for a short time they say..closing a pub for a kitchen refurb is nothing unusual however i do find it odd that it will yet again be under new management..the last owners only being there for just over a year. so begs the question who are the new owners
