Scams: telephone, email, texts 2023, 2024

Another aspect of the cashless society which people accept without any thought. It is suggested that it it to our benefit - occasionally it is - but the real reason, I feel it is far more profitable for the car park owners to make even more money without their effort.

Yes, they made savings by not having to employ someone to sit in a car park kiosk or to travel to their car parks to empty the money out of their ticket machines. Sacking them may have slightly increased the money they make, but it didn't add to customer service and it added to the ranks of the unemployed. :(

I'm now always checking unrecognisable phone contacts that appear on my phone. This one has been persistent, haven't answered it. Have reported it.
The problem is that the scammers just keep going regardless of how many times you get hit or repot them. Our local hospital just had their/our files hacked and there is little that can be done except spend more on cyber security keep our fingers crossed and who pays for that in the long run!

The problem is nothing seems to happen to anyone, other than to the victims. It would be nice if a bit more importance could be placed on these scams by those responsible for them occasionally being brought to justice. The chances of that happening to those operating from the UK seem to be slim to none and to those operating from abroad zero. At present like shoplifting it seems anyone can get away with it. :(

I had this text this morning. (I have deleted the link at the end). No idea where they think they saw my cv

Tried to report it but it wouldn't let me so I copied text and sent it instead.

It is a one sided fight. You and I have to be vigilant whilst doing what we do in our lives. For the scammers, it is their job, often backed by an organisation providing an infrastructure. It gets wearing, and makes us a bit paranoid. In my case, both the home phone and mobile will block calls that are not in the contact list, (sending them directly to answerphone), although I get a notification of the time and number so I can review if I feel the urge. Just have to make sure the doctor and nurses mobiles are in the list, they tend to use mobiles rather than a desk phone.

Perhaps it is for manually reviewing items flagged as 'unsuitable' (understatement). For that job, the start point for negotiations would be £500 per hour.

It is probably standard operating practice to never target the country you are operating from. So zero it is.

Andrew.
