You girls are incredible - I am very humbled to think that you would go to so much trouble to provide assistance to someone 12,000 miles away and we have never met. If I could take you out for lunch to show my appreciation I would do it in a blink. Back to Ann Marklew. Most of what you have uncovered is accurate according to my own records and family folk lore, Ann was born in 1817 and her parents were Charles Lea Marklew 1791-1873 and Ann James 1793-1861. Charles came from Birmingham while Ann came from Bath, Somerset. They married in 1810 in Yardley which is listed as being in Worcestershire at that stage. They had ten children in total, the fourth born was Ann in 1817, she had a sister Hannah in 1822 and a brother David James Marklew in 1824, Sarah Alice in 1830 and lastly Fanny Elizabeth in 1834. I could name the others but they are outside of this enquiry. I have tracked Charles and his wife Ann throughout the censuses of 1841, 1851, 1861 and for Charles only 1871 since his wife had passed away by the census date. The daughter Ann does not appear on any of the census reports - by 1841 she would have been 24 years old. I have not been able to find any evidence of a marriage but did locate what I believe to be her death in 1876, buried in Whitton Cemetery. My belief that Ann, the daughter, never married was told to me by my own Grandmother Julia Marklew nee Bradnock when I first grew interested in genealogy. Julia was an incredible source of knowledge and I will remain indebted to her for the rest of my life, but, she has been found to be wrong on very few occasions but this just might be another one. Can you supply details of the marriage between Ann and whoever in 1840/41 please. I an very appreciative of the efforts you have made and wish there was some way to repay you for your kindness and generosity.
