I wasn't. I didn't want to upset him in any possible way, in case he didn't come down my chimney, or heavens forbid, didn't give me the present that I had queued so patiently for. I was convinced that he would give the best presents, to the kids who were the best behaved and it wasn't a risk worth taking back then, for me to play up. I got a red space gun once, it certainly worked that time. ;)
 
not exactly a toy but the other week my grandaughter 4 in january came round with a box of coloured chalks and asked if she could use my slabs out back to draw on them...of course i said yes and straight away i was transported back to the days when i used to mark out hop scotch on the pavements...cost us nothing but we had hours of fun.. :)

we never had chalk we used abit of broken brick/stone or Slate

I still am. Our grandchildren are too if they were only allowed to be. The little one loves playing with the jumping frog, from a Christmas Cracker. We have a reserved table sign and we flip it to each other over that. He has a ball which has sections and you squash it down and it springs back. I put his little duck on top and we catch the duck. Or throw the ball to each other outside and bounce it off the chair. I had a slide projector too, some of them were bible stories, the boy who cried wolf and Joan of Arc that I remember.

I think so and the Balsa wood ones with cardboard wings and you weighted the nose with a penny.
 
Anyone have one of these?

There were plans inside for you to use to build houses (mainly). There were green bases marked with holes. You slotted metal roda into the holes according to the plan. Then threaded red or white bricks onto the rods to build the house of your choice. There were widows and doors plus roof panels as well.
Quite fiddly and I think myy Dad got more enjoyment out of it at first than I did. Althugh I did get used to it eventually. Can't rememebr how old I was when it appeared one Christmas.

I had one and remember all the solid rods and roof. It was a bit fiddley and, in all honesty, I would make a start and never finish it.

And I believe that the anticipation was SO high. It seemed to me that the graphics were always better than the product!
