Mdriels thank you so much for sharing your wonderful memories. Your family must have known some of my lot. My nan Catherine (Kay) Cooke worked at the munitions factory and she told stories of the bomb in St Lukes. She also told us a story about leaving the factory late (long after the sirens)...

What lovely memories Brenda! My nan was born in Sun Street in 1925 (Catherine Cooke) her uncle also lived on Sun Street (Bert Knott). Its strange how things work out as my nan married Frank Webb who also lived on Bell Barn Road. It's also very strange to think of a descendant of the Earls...

Hi Not sure if anyone has seen this, I had a look through the threads and couldn't see any mention - apologies if this is a repeat. The BBC are running a story that due to the HS2 (which seems to be controlling my life at the moment) they may have to exhume bodies from the Park Street burial...

Hi, Bit of a long shot but did Daisy marry Percy Wilson? My mother in law's grandparents were Ruby Wilson & Charles Boswell and believe Ruby's mother was Daisy Elizabeth Wicketts. They would have lived around that area so thought there was a good chance it could be the same family? I...

Thanks Mike, wonderful map again! I wonder if they lived in one of the houses that backed onto Hick Street? There address in the first voters roll was Hick Street - Holly Grove and then just 5 Holly grove. I had kind of hoped that they weren't back to backs as seems to be the trend in the...

    Knotts/Blunns/Pages living in Birmingham

All of the workhouse census records are on line, so think they would have been picked up had Louisa been in the workhouse, plus there is about 20 miles between Aston & Wolverhampton which back in those days would have been a bit of a treck. Although Clara's place of Birth is Aston workhouse...
