Hi all, my father, Trevor Ellison, was a teacher at William Cowper from the early 1950's until 1971 just before the school was demolished. It has been very interesting to read peoples memories of the school. My father never spoke about the children at the school but did speak about Mr Powell the headmaster. He thought very highly of him as a person and a teacher. I believe he helped my father a lot in the early days as William Cowper was my fathers first teaching job. He would have been in his early 20's when he started at the school facing a classroom of lively brummie kids! He also told me how the area around the school changed especially in the 1960s when all of the old housing was demolished. My father was from Wales but spent his working life in Birmingham. He died in 2016 aged 88
