Where is this bus ?

There is a Thread for Roy Fisher...

A starting point? This bus is turning from the Pershore Road into Belgrave Road, the houses look to be of a similar style.

observation ...the 2nd door on the right seems to say its no 3 so either its my eyes or its the beginning of a street or road..the properties look in good nick so they could still be standing...

Far too clever for me. That mystery didn't last long!

Maurice
The clue is a 2nd June 1962 Murder Mystery at Bates's Newsagency
And the murderer escaped with blood stained hands on a No 8 Bus !

Lyn the newsagent was shot dead during a robbery ,his attacker was sentenced to death and was the last person to hang in Winson Green prison.

RobT,

The year after I left Brum and moved to Dorset. Sounds like a ghastly crime for a pittance in money, as many of them are. Justice prevailed.

I would agree Lyn. The rounded building in the background of the first picture and the Lozelles bus stop.

Can someone confirm if these 2 photos were taken on the Snow Hill side of the station please?

Photographs are from the wonderful Stilltime Collection website - another little goldmine!!! - a search on "Birmingham" brings back 571 results - very few (if any) I have seen before - www.stilltimecollection.co.uk
The first two are in front of the Snow Hill station hotel, some call it Colmore Row but in times past it was Steelhouse Lane as far as Livery Street then Colmore Row to Victoria Square. It was the terminus for Soho Road services (Handsworth, West Bromwich, Wednesbury and Dudley) and had been for the tram services beforehand.

Happy to do that Lloyd. Probably best that I add "Bus" to the title then too.

Edit, all done.
