I’ve cut it off but on the bottom of the photo it says ‘my dear old house’. I am assuming John Kent 1968 wrote this.

I loved the whole of this investigation I feel like we are part of your family now Veekent. There are some brilliant people on this forum and they do not give up until the mystery is solved.

Dear Lyn,

My name is Daniel Flint, I'm the archivist for the Institute of Our Lady of Mercy. I understand you're looking for more information about a Sister of Mercy, Sarah Kent. Your request was sent to me by Jenny Smith as the Newcastle-upon-Tyne convent is part of the Institute, so all the records are now here in our archives in Bermondsey, London.

Looking at our database, I can confirm that Sarah was a Sister of Mercy. She was born 26th May 1867 to John and Alice Kent in Sandyford, Staffordshire. She entered the Newcastle-upon-Tyne convent 19th September 1891 and had her reception 30th October 1892. Her final profession was on 8th December 1894, after which she adopted the religious name of Sister Mary Agatha.

She died 14th March 1953, and is buried at Ashburton Cemetery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Unfortunately, we have no records of her activity between her final profession and her death. I have attached a photo of the Mercy grave plot in Ashburton, you will see her name at the top of the second column.

I hope this information is useful to you. Please let me know if there is anything more I can do for you.

Kind regards,

Daniel FlintView attachment 185458
This is amazing!

Who are the 2 portraits in post #150?

Not sure if it's the same person but there's a H J Whitlock described in 1869 (Bham Daily Gazette) as photographer to the Queen.

Yes, but veekent said that they were Sarah's mother, Alice and her husband John Kent b1828.

That's why I queried.

He was there on the 1891 census as well and so I wondered if they had visited their son in Birmingham.

I believe the photo is of the 3 youngest sisters, one being Sarah the Nun with their father John. I thought they are wearing black and could be that their mother had died as she died in 1902

This is taken in 1902… I assumed they are wearing black as Alice died in 1902
Is this the photo of the Christmas card? You think that is of the farm at Mill Meece? John and Alice are there on the 1871 census but on 1881, 1891 and 1901 are at Sandyford.
