Hi Everyone, I can throw some light on the Tangye Family, My great grandfather worked for Sir Richard Tangye as his bailiff.
My great granfathers daughter from his first mariage was married too Sir Richards ,Groom,
Sir Richard Tangye ,lived for awhile at Gilbertstone House, Yardley,Birmingham, Rather a large place on many acres.
Richard along with his brothers set up the engineering business in smethwick,birmingham , called "Cornwall Works"
He was born in Cornwall near Redruth 1833- 1906, I do have more information and there are census details available.

Hi I'm originally from Birmingham and my family on my mothers side still live in Birmingham. I now live in Fare North Queensland Australia have done for 25 years. I recently traveled up to the top of Mount Poverty to visit an elderly neighbour who collect's old machinery. Low and behold I found a Tangye Birmingham 6 1/2 v 1878. I found the story about the Ferry called the wattle that ran on the Lane cove River in the 1800's. Apologies the picture files are to big such a shame.
