I too lived in Stockfield Rd 1960's-70's. No. 138, most of the time I worked at the nearby Wilmot Breeden factory. I particularly remember "the open all hours shop" Mrs. Thorley's which was opposite to Mansfield Rd.

A few pictures around Stockfield Rd

I lived at 131 Stockfield Road in the late 1960's early 1970's. After I left, My parents were moved out and a factory warehouse was erected in the place of the block of houses. I can still smell the formaldehyde "aroma" from the Bakelite (BXL) factory where I worked in the labs for a few years!!
I remember the fishing tackle shop and newsagents on the LHS. There was a second hand shop on the RHS of the road in those days. Our watering hole was The Speedwell, and my parents were members of Perry's club in Wharfdale Road

Hi Neighbour! Just had a look on Google Map. Our house still there, last one before new ones start by a bus stop on other carriageway. Went on a school trip to BXL(1958) so I know what you mean about the aroma. We would walk down Wharfdale Rd to catch train into Brum from the station at Tyseley. Even the Speedwell is not there!
