If the 1841 census family I have found is the correct one, living in Shut Lane, William and Sarah had four children, Alfred 1834, William 1835, Jane 1837 and Mary 1839. I can find no evidence of other children before Hannah arrived in March 1845. I realised that by the time of the 1851 census, Alfred would be about 17, William about 16, Jane would be about 14 and Mary about 12, and Hannah about 6. I tried to find each of them living without their father and mother…(except for Hannah who was living with her father and his new wife, Ann) I think I found each of them either working, or apprenticed, or living with a family.
There are a couple possible deaths reg. in Bham - Mar 1846, aged 26 (a bit young and a bit early maybe?) and Sep 1848, aged 32.
Tricky and that's assuming she died where they were living and not on a visit to family or something.
How have you worked out the other children?
And I think you'd be very lucky to get any sort of picture of the house unfortunately.
Thank you for suggesting possible Sarah deaths. I think the 26 year old was too young….because in 1841 she was shown as 27. So, I will look into the 1848 death.
