The Old Windmill, Spon End Coventry (Ma Brown's) at 1451 and The Golden Cross, 1854. So Ma Brown's here. I can't find the name of the, there it is now it's gone pub I will keep trying.

Here's one that I have no knowledge of and can't claim to have ever used. Anybody remember it, I have no doubt that it is well gone now. Scotch house on the corner of Aston High Street and Whitehead Rd.

I think Arthur and Doreen Burley ran this pub.

There is a Vine in the thread (#470) but this one is the Vine Inn, sorry I don't know which street it was in.

Is this Carver Street?

The oldest pub in Birmingham is The Green Man or Lad in the Lane....same pub in Erdington Tom

Parts of the building go back to pre 1400

To left of the Waterloo and underneath Christ Church was Old Moore's Oyster Room. When it was demolished oysters were growing on the walls.

I remember this well, I used to walk past here with my Granddad, he was a bookies runner and used to take the clocks to Joey and Jim Smith the bookmakers who lived just up Monument Road.

post 1662 image 12 is of another pub on of my ancestors ran would have to sort out my notes but i think when he ran it it did have a name

According to the 1891 census the pub at that corner was the Rose, the other corner was the Horse & Jockey

mike i dont think that was the name ive got...it was on the ground where the police station now stands in fact i think it was you who sorted it out for me some years ago....will sort out my notes tomorrow as my memory is not what it used to be lol

I don't know whether this is the right place for this post, just to say one of the messages I got today from Birmingham LIve . The general manager of The Woodman in Digbeth says "we're still here" this is almost a cry for help as I understand it due to the modifications in and around Brum due to HS2 . Certainly sad when businesses have to suffer .

I walked past the Woodman one night last week. All the lights on but did not see many people inside.

The view of the Bell in Oldbury gardens shows two out houses similar to the ones at the Four Oaks in Sutton Coldfield that I mentioned in an earlier post connected with Navigation on Tyburn Road.

The Brittania opposite Aston Station is still a good looking building, despite needing some TLC. I love the statue of Brittania on the front, glad it's still there to see.
