I have just bought a book from the car boot,by Whitbread early 40's and it mentions the Marshall Foch, Birmingham,does anyone know where this pub was.
John, You know where 184, its on the corner of James Watt St just around the corner from where you used to work. It was a Yates Wine Lodge for a few years recently. I haven't a clue what it is now.
Christy, Here is a photo of the Star on Gooch St, and a rather bad photo of the Castle in Leopold St St. As a youngster I heard the Nags Head mentioned loads of times and I assume that it's a local name for a pub of another name. Perhaps you can tell me the correct name and the location.

All in Booth Street Handsworth between Watt Street and Chapel Street and demolished in the 70's the last to go being the Gate!
