PUBS OF MY CHILDHOOD

2 Pubs, from my youth, I visited alternate saturday nights were the "Rowley Rag", Rowley Regis, and the "Hen and Chickens", Wolverhampton Road, they were, together with the Black Swan Yardley. the IN, places of the day !! Also the the Crooked House ,

It was quite common in my childhood to be taken to the pub with parents or grandparents and be given and bag of crisps and a glass of pop and told to play outside. There were always lots of other kids doing the same. I got to go to a few interesting places including The Golden Cross Short Heath. The pub grounds were quite extensive and interesting. There was also The Beehive at Curdworth, I loved playing out there

Yes the Beehive was great as kid only 1 vist as a treat

Probably, due to alwars looking younger than my age, would be a reason that I never went into pubs until I was in the RAF. Actually I was under 18 at the time of joining and I hesitated when I went out with the lads when in Calne, but I was told by one of the lads that there would be no problem as I was in uniform.
