Apologies - I said I would look for some Hockley Hill pictures - these are not very good and you may say they are not Hockley Hill!
67 Great Hampton Street in 1968, Lewis's Furniture Depositors, on the left side is the sign for Hockley Terrace, also note the little DAF car.

Hockley Hill towards Great Hampton Street, on the overbridge which underneath was derelict for years but apparently saved the council millions in building costs when the road was put through.

This is the side of Minerva Vaults from 1980, Jack Allen dustcart work in the distance and note the large metal window frames on the left, also note the selection of cars, Datsun, Allegro, Escort, Triumph Herald and a rusty Triumph

Last one the roundabout under Hockley flyover by the WMPTE garage, back of a pick up, the lorry on the right looks intersting and note the stcky tape on the skylight of the bus garage.

Yes, I remember the road to nowhere very well! I used to travel to work in the city centre through Hockley.

Edit - there were large bushes growing down there by the time they made use of it.

This shot is from 2017 as the building is currently covered in scaffolding.

I think this is the right place - building to the right seems the same but the WMPTE has gone.

A few from round the city centre today first up Cumberland House Broad Street in 1971, T&GWU offices and a Hillman, Sunbeam, Humber car showroom, all of which are no longer around - the cars I mean !

Rather a cropped image of 9-10 Bennetts Hill in 1972, I presume they couldn't get back far enough to get the whole building in - gives a hint to the styling of the building, as usual in the city centre you have to look op to see the most detail - note the Ford Cortina parked

Looks a bit different than today this is New Street Station - 1971, plenty to see - the bench, litter bin , lamp posts and the sign post on the wall all from the past. Note also that it is British Rail New Street

So much to look at the car names - authorised Agents, the arched windows, brickwork, the concert posters and a ticket for Kiss at Bingley Hall Stafford - £4.75.

Well this was taken just before it all changed around here, Lancaster Street 1968. Building on the left was a warehouse, now the council offices - spent many years working here. A close look needs to be made of all the different cars and vans, the Mace delivery lorry advertising Golden Stream Tea and the wooden barriers and gas lamps, can you imagine two way traffic these days.

Just after we were married my wife, along with others, was transferred to this building from the Beacon Buildings on Stratford Rd. She worked there until left to have our first child.
