Lovely nostalgia thread about Nazareth House

I was born in 1966 and went to St Columba's school next to Nazareth House from 1970 with my sisters (Louise and Elizabeth) following me.

The first girl I ever "fell for" at the grand age of around 8 years old (1974??) was Tracy Devlin, one of two orphan sisters who were at Nazareth House - if you're around Tracy and sister I hope you both had happy lives and are still doing well - feel free to get me at bonker9999@gmail.com

Hi there,
I am looking for information and photos of nazareth house convent and childrens home which used to be in Lickey Road, Rednal as I was there for a time in 1961. Can anyone help?

Fascinating thread. Is there anyone here who might remember my grandma, Mrs (Edna) Flanagan. She was one of the cooks at Nazareth House, Rednal, between around 1953 and 1958? Her little girl (my auntie) Suzanne Flanagan was there too, but I don't think they were allowed to spend much time together. From what I've read, my auntie was lucky not to have been sent to Australia. When my grandma died, she was transferred to Nazareth House, Hammersmith.

I have just read your post about Sister Assumpta. I was at Nazareth House for two short spells in 1959, from February to July and again in 1961 August to October ( although as a nine year old it seemed ages !) I wonder do you remember any of the Turner Family? There was myself. Anthony, my younger brother, John and my older sister, Anne. My two youngest sisters Carol and Bernadette were in the nursery although Carol was in the main part second time around. The boys were looked after by Sister Assumpa helped by a fairly plump woman called Betty who I recall was a bit "cross-eyed". The girls were looked after by Sister Columba I think in 1959 and Sister James in 1961. I remember Assumta had a black mongrel dog called Rover. The place was huge and had its own laundry , farm and garden. How much do you remember? I have loads of memories some vivid and others vague. I am researching Nazareth House history and am looking for photos, I have a few but would love to get some more. I can honestly say we weren't treated that badly but that may because my dad visited us weekly.

Hello Tony, I don't know if this thread is still active. But have you come across any mention of the kitchen staff in your research? My grandma - Edna Flanagan - was a Cook there in 1955-1960.
