you are right I re read the email and it does seem like no burials were noted that year. very odd. From the email in this post
Just before I catch up on everyone’s post, me and my dad visited st Joseph’s thismorning. Got talking to the lovely staff. The lady who deals with the register/burial info is on holiday. But they knew I was waiting for an email off Naomi from st chads. Anyway I got home, and I received this email- so happy.
I have ordered Maria death certificate, it should be here any day, so I will see who registered the death?!!?
im looking forward to finding the plot
I think she might be at St Joseph's as the lady says 1939 is blank - very unusual if no burials at all that year. Comment is about "failing to fill in 1939 register".
Most likely buried in family plot with Giuseppe
Albert is her son and his wife Egina.1939 eroll shows she was living with

Thanks for this, I will pay it a visit.
mark and jan how do you get to jervis terrace..it just looks like a dirt track to me...been up and down booth st on st view and i cant find it..
That's a shame, every address I come across is no longer there. On the map it says "jervais terrace" and says "permanently closed". I think it may be undergoing renovation so you may not be able to visit it. That is a guess.
Lyn - find 17 and19 Booth Street. On the left hand side of 17 is what looks like a long driveway. I think that leads to the terrace. On the garden wall from 17 is painted the sign I posted in post 312.
You can't go to the terrace on Street View as it is behind the house
That's why MWS posted views from Google Earththanks jan no wonder i could not find it..![]()
Maria Iommi (the wife of Nicola) is listed in the 1939 trade directory as running Coffee Rooms at 169 Booth St
Oh so it was more of a cake shop thenPerhaps Giuseppe the artist went back to Italy?
In 1940 directory 81 Hight Street is listed as Iommi G & L Confectioners.
1960 phone book has Iommi G & L cafe at 81 High Street
You know I remember that was posted and when it said 50/60s I thought it was perhaps after they ran it. But now I realise they had it then too. Amazing. I shall add that to my tree.Don't forget in post#37 there is a photo of 81 High Street
