IN OUR GARDENS 2025

We have a roll-up hose reel, thats been left unrolled for a couple of weeks,(the pond needed topping up) and a robin has made a nest in it now, good job we noticed the activity before we touched it. That's was quick work fair play, deserves to be left alone I reckon.

After 40yrs of hedgehogs in the garden, this year we haven't seen any, that's really sad.

We haven't seen any hedgehogs either this year, it does make you sad when the wildlife suddenly stops visiting. We've been here over 30 years and up until about 7 years ago we always had thrushes. No sigh at all of those lovely birds now.
Attending a funeral yesterday there was a nice touch - the lady that had passed away was a bird lover, and we were given a little packet of sunflowers seeds to feed the birds in her memory. The ducks we get in our garden at this time of year, soon polished them off!

I got caught unawares, a few weeks ago, by a lady selling memberships for the RSPB, so I rejoined after a long break, because she told me about how bad things were for all wildlife. She mentioned hedgehogs as well. So I've bought eight batteries for my garden camera, and see what shows up. Our garden is based around hedgehogs, and the like. Normally I know they're about, because the dogs go crazy when I let them out into the garden first thing. Fingers crossed for tonight
