Hill Street, Birmingham.

I'm going to buck the trend - it reminds me of the British Rail "power box" by Navigation Street - I don't think it's too bad. Now Selfridges and the so - called bl**dy "Bullring" (did they forget where the space bar was?) - that looks as if it's just been dropped from orbit and hit Brum in a completely random fashion. ..it doesn't fit in with any of the surrounding streets...the ultimate drag is walking from Moor Street to New Street station and having to negotiate that bit of underground road that reminds me more than anything else of a drain .....

john i just knew you would lol...wouldnt do for everyone to like or dislike the same things...

Hi So my 3 x great grandad and his wife and children lived at 21 Hill Street for over 30 years. He was a carver/cabinet maker by trade, so wondering if it was his business address - I can't find anything anywhere - can anyone help please?

Have tried to find it, but it is not marked on any map I have, not listed , as such, in electoral rolls, and does not seem to be mentioned in directories. It does come up on the newspaper archives, but no indication as to where it is

There are what could be back to back houses and courtyards on Hill Street just opposite New Street Station. I’ve overlayed them on a modern Open Streets map.

thanks mike..i think the clue is in the caption which says its houses numbered 5 to 10 which indicates to me that there was a line of 10 back houses in the middle of where mort has marked out the square in red and marked as queens village on your map...best guess i have

Station Terrace, Hill Street appears about 7 times in the newspapers between 1891 and 1900, but do not give an idea of the exact location.
Numbers mentioned are 4,10 and 11.
