Sorry, I should have explained. some years ago the site was hacked, and as a result all the photos on it were lost. Many have been replaced , but unfortunately, that was not possible with all of them as some people have left the forum and they are not available. The photo referred to seems to
have been one of those

Hi she posted the comment on May 3rd 2009 but I dont know what year the photo would've been.....this is the comment she made

The person in the front of the picture looking at the meat counter which i presume is Erdington Market is Pat Cattermole. I can name her because she is no longer with us...Cat

Yes I think you’re right it’s the Cross Keys. Thought that was on Sutton Road, but maybe it’s still High Street at the Cross Keys. Thanks. Viv.

The Acorn Hotel was at 196 High St
Roebuck was at 132 High st
Cross Keys was at 15 High st, next to it was Station Road, then a Congregational Church
9, 11 & 13 High st was Pickfords Ltd, Carriers. (building on right of Cross Keys in photo.)

I'd be interested in any photos of Erdington High Street around Coton Lane area if anyone could share them with me please as I used to work at Houghton's, the Gents Outfitters when I first left School.
Houghtons was situated oposite Owen Owen (Previously Taylors) and I would love to see a picture of the old shop if anyone can help please. I guess Houghtons must have been there from around the turn of the century judging by the shop fittings I remember and it closed about 1970.
Thanks.

Post #138 .Nice milk vending machine outside Paynes Shoe Repairs. This end of High Street was redeveloped - there was an early Tesco Supermarket and Chelsea Girl. When I went in Tesco to grab something for lunch in my Boots white coat, people used to stop me to ask where such and such was, thinking I worked there.

Post #139 Astons shop. Was that a bread and cake shop ? I have a feeling it became Wright's the Bakers. Did a few college holiday weeks working in Wright's too. I was put in charge of sandwiches. No fancy options in those days, just cheese and pickle, ham, egg and tom, that sort of thing.

Fond memories of the High Street. Thanks for posting Richard,
