Looks like a pretty cold blustery day but always good around the water!“Dr. RS Aitken, Vice-Chancellor, rises his glass to toast Birmingham University Sailing Association's new Enterprise dinghy "Faith" as she was launched on Edgbaston Reservoir on Sunday. The association hopes to build a fleet of dinghies so that racing fixtures can be arranged.”

Great photo Viv!'Nannies' meeting at the Refreshment Rooms. Judging by the cane pram, I'd say this is an edwardian photo.

That is certainly not something we should be proud of. There are some that say that clear water globally will be an even more precious and expensive commodity.Who would think that almost 90 years later our waters would not be fit to swim?
hi mort i would guess at no...i think the tower ballroom was built well before butlins started...cant be certain thoughJust a thought. Did Butlins build the Tower Ballroom? It certainly had that look and feel of a Butlins holiday dance and entertainment center and Butlins was into entertainment still evolving ideas around it.
Welcome to BHF, Lauren. I struggled to find the cottage on-line as it is inside the grounds and not at the Rotton Park Rd entrance. I found this photo on Flickr River. The place is fenced off - but is this the cottage you mean?Wondering if anyone knows the history of the cottage at the Rotton Park Road entrance to the reservoir? I'm assuming it originated as a Park-keeper's residence but I can't find any reference to it anywhere and wonder how long it's been there. Thanks!

Thanks, Stokkie! That's Reservoir House, which I believe used to house workers at the old engine pump nearby, along with Reservoir Cottage which is now leased by the sailing club.Welcome to BHF, Lauren. Thanks Lauren! So we can eliminate Reservoir House and Reservoir Cottage. Do you know what your cottage is called and what state it is in?Thanks, Stokkie! I've struggled to find a photo of the building I mean but here is the location on Google Maps in case that helps! It's at the other end of the reservoir to Reservoir House. I'll try to take a photo next time I'm there!
