I did click on visibility & there was nowhere to change from private to public. I did manage to change it to public under default ( I hope !! )

Don't know if any of the wonderful Wiz Kids can help with two irritating problems I have on my desk top at the moment
I keep getting two pop up boxes coming up. For the last few weeks while I am searching for something, or even scrolling down a page like this one , a box comes up saying "Page unresponsive" , Wait/Exit. The other one I have had for last two weeks is "Direct access to Chrome" - Add to Chrome.
Can it be anything to do with fact the computer has slowed down recently and I get a lot of buffering on videos or live programmes. At 92 I certainly need everything in the most simple of terms please.

You may have a computer nasty on your machine.
Type into the search box bottom left corner “MRT” you will see a box with mrt Run command. Click run as administrator if that option shows or just click mrt if not. This will activate the Microsoft malicious removal tool. Do a full scan and see how you go.

johnny, congratulations on being 92!
Thanks for advice Morturn. Started the MRT at 12.30 and when I went to bed at 11.30 it was still going. It had scanned over two million by that time. When I looked this morning it said no infection had been found at all. Whilst problems remain it has not been as bad so far this morning

A few more things to try if you haven't already:
Right click on the taskbar and select 'Startup'. All items can normally be disabled except anything relating to antivirus/security.
Then look in the Processes tab and check that none of the items on the top line are running near 100%. Memory would usually be under 50%; other items much lower but give it a few minutes to settle down after opening the tab.
You could also try downloading and running adwcleaner - this is a Microsoft/'Malwarebytes product so quite safe but works slightly differently from MRT.

Almost everything described could also be down to a fault with the internet connection. If that's the problem check that the relevant plugs haven't come loose and if you have a powered box that everything comes through, you might want to try switching it off, waiting a minute, and switching it back on.
The other possibility is that you've been downloading a lot of stuff and you're low on storage space. If all the stuff you've been watching has been online and streaming, that shouldn't have happened.

Another problem which has developed over the last two week with which I need help please.
When I try to log into BHF or any other site I get a screen which says "Your Ad Blocker is obsolete and blocking the loading of ....." In the top left corner it says "This is in Chrome web store". It happened when I tried to load BHF this morning. At second time of trying it came on OK, but when I clicked on General Discussion it came up again.
I have never had Ad Blocker on the PC at all so would greatly appreciate help from the "Whiz Kids" Thanks in advance

The first thing that springs to my mind is you have a computer nasty on you machine. Not all malware programmes crash your computer or hold you to ransom. Some try to steer you into buying a product that you don’t need.
Assuming Windows 10 type in the search box on the bottom left “MRT”. You should then see the MRT too. Click run as administrator and do a full scan. Let us know how you get on.

I have been away to Chester and got back yesterday afternoon and one of my many emails was for this thread so I just clicked it and added a comment but not looked elsewhere yet , will do so nowThanks for your reply Morturn in #308. I did that a few months ago when I had another problem and had to leave the computer on all night for it to complete the operation and then told there was no problem.

Ok, it may well be your browser. I do not use Goole chrome, in my opinion its too intrusive. You could try another browser; I use Firefox and also Brave.
Its likely that you may have Edge already installed on your computer, have you given that a go.

Having use Google Chrome for many years, I have never come across Google Web Store! I'm wondering if it has been unwittingly added at some time. Assuming you don't use/need it, check your extensions - click the extensions symbol on the right of the chrome address bar or click the three dots to select settings - extensions and if Web Store shows up there you will have the choice of removing it or switching it off.

We had a power cut at 2:00am this morning. It damaged the power supply on my computer, so have been without it until now.
Fortunately, an online prime delivery company got me one out same day. While it was in bits, I got the compressed air and cleaned away all the accumulated dust in the fans and also removed a few redundant bit that seems a good idea when I fist built it, but somehow don’t live up to expectations.
The new power supply is silent, its quite nice.

I don't have that problem, some long time ago at an auction there were a few UPS (uninterruptible power supply) units for sale, I bought three kept one for myself and Ebayed the rest, power outs are dealt with in milliseconds so I've never had a fault caused by one.
