My poor mother spent many years cleaning up after others . but at least in her later life us kids were able to repay her in a little way for the life she had to suffered to help bring us up with a husband that would rather drink or gamble the household money away. RIP MomNice pic Big Fella, it would be hard to find those hard working ladies these days. Ladies like them used to be out early every morning cleaning the office's around Brum, polishing the brass name plates and scrubbing the steps.
I remember shopping at the old Tesco at the start of Hagley Road when I noticed Roger Tongue doing the same. I carried on and didn't take a lot of notice of what he was doing until I got to the queue to pay. All of a sudden this woman turned around and looked at him, then she looked away and did a double take, she turned around and said in a loud voice "Your Sandy from Crossroads! And you can walk, you can walk! You're cured." and then she passed out. Roger looked really embarrassed, but he waited until the staff helped her up, and the he explained it wasn't real and he didn't use a wheel chair in real life.
Noele Gordon used to park her Rolls in New Street on double yellow lines near the ramp into New Street Station, the Police never stuck a ticket on it no matter how long it was there.
Nice to see Noele Gordon and the old Crossroads team on TV this evening.
