We {the royal one?? } Appeared on Lunch Box to teach Noelle Gordon to dance. Considering she was a Principal Boy in most pantomimes she soon picked it up.It was true that the sets were not very stable And you could actually see them wobble. I was frightened to death in case they fell on us. But then I think the walls were mainly plywood or cardboard. There was a great feeling of camaradry amongs the team of actors and I think this came across on tele which made the show ' a must see '.
When The Beatles were at the studio one of the bands on with them was The Bruisers { Lee Stirling } and they had arrange to play for us after the gig at A.T.V. As is well known they had to close the studios to get the Beatles out so by the time they got to me is was 10.20 and almost closing time but Peter and the boys set up and played for the youngsters. The cheers were on a par with the Beatles . True proffesionalism from a group of what were basicly young lads enjoying what they were doing and giving pleasure to other people. Dare I Say... Those were the days ???????

Betty Hopper { Been A.W.O.L. Been browsing and found something to add my twopennuth to,Hope you are all well. }

Thanks Roz for posting the photo of the boys at ATV! A good one of Alan and John. I am guessing the photo must have been taken around 1965 ish. Love the wallpaper on the set!

I do not know where I got this from but it is the cast of Crossroads, no date .

I never watched Crossroads or any other soap, but when I worked for Foseco in the USA I knew Paul Hodgkinson, who played a character called Colin Warboys in Crossroads. Anyone remember him?

Big Gee

I have never been fond of 'soaps' because after a while they seem to run out of storylines and start getting ridiculous, murders, arson etc... plus I believe Crossroads was noted for its poor acting and unconvincing sets,my late Wife watched it for a while until she took a dislike to Noel Gordon and ceased viewing it, and just watched Coronation Street. Eric

I was never a fan of the show but I will tell you that Noel Gordon was a great passenger to ferry around in a private hire car. Always polite, pleasant and ready to chat about most things.

Nice pic Big Fella, it would be hard to find those hard working ladies these days. Ladies like them used to be out early every morning cleaning the office's around Brum, polishing the brass name plates and scrubbing the steps.

My poor mother spent many years cleaning up after others . but at least in her later life us kids were able to repay her in a little way for the life she had to suffered to help bring us up with a husband that would rather drink or gamble the household money away. RIP Mom

hi big fella ;
i have to agree with those women of yesterday years there no comparisoment with todays women
the older generation took pride with such jobs as scrubbing front steps and polishing door knobs and plates
there is certainly a lot to be said all round for our older generation ;its a pity the younger generation did not the same attituned ;
by the way as i only lived along from the studios i used to see all the stars and actors regular ; ; and not the stars of the pubs by drink ;
in case any one wants to make a joke of it ;and i used to clock old deirdre fropm coro;street quite often she was a tall young good looking woman with long
legs and her wearing her mini skirts as she used to get in that little low down M G sports car ; she was a right littleraver ; i can tell you ;

I went to see "Thank your lucky stars" at the studio with my mum and a friend with her mum. It was presented by Pete Murray. Can't for the life of me rmember which groups we saw. Think I must have been totally overwhelmed by the whole experience. Viv.

There were many like her too Big Fella, I knew quite a few in my office working days. They were always cheerful, and I hope they all ended up cared for like your mother in the end. As you say, RIP all those hard working ladies that are gone but not forgotten.

I remember shopping at the old Tesco at the start of Hagley Road when I noticed Roger Tongue doing the same. I carried on and didn't take a lot of notice of what he was doing until I got to the queue to pay. All of a sudden this woman turned around and looked at him, then she looked away and did a double take, she turned around and said in a loud voice "Your Sandy from Crossroads! And you can walk, you can walk! You're cured." and then she passed out. Roger looked really embarrassed, but he waited until the staff helped her up, and the he explained it wasn't real and he didn't use a wheel chair in real life.

Noele Gordon used to park her Rolls in New Street on double yellow lines near the ramp into New Street Station, the Police never stuck a ticket on it no matter how long it was there.

I am sure i heard this story about how the script writers got the plot wrong. Sandy’s wheel chair period was only supposed to be temporary, but the illness they said was diagnosed with, did not have a cure.

Yes I heard that at the time, they didn't realize he would have to stay in a wheelchair, He used to drive through Harborne every evening in a mini, I worked in the coop, opposite the Royalty, he always went past as I was leaving work, and always bipped his horn at me

Nice to see Noele Gordon and the old Crossroads team on TV this evening.

It was Carolina, and I still think that she was quite a handsome woman. She knew how to do her make up thats for sure. I would imagine she was a bit of a tartar though. Did anyone ever find out why she was sacked from Crossroads? I remember her on Lunchbox too, my stepmother wouldn't miss that prog for anything, so it was always on when I came in for my lunch.
