It was indeed Lyn. I had a habit of rolling my chair back and I sat at a desk that was about six feet from the windows. I didn't stand to near to the windows or look down at the car park too much, I have never been one for heights. :oops:

That looks quite recent to me. Although, I spend a lot more time looking down to try to avoid tripping these days, rather than looking up to appreciate changes above ground level. :(

Pity, I used it several times 25 years or so ago. It was no nonsense in and out, within an hour, my personal record was 10 minutes from coming off the plane to being in my car on the way out of the airport gate (without any baggage to re-claim, I should add). None of this, be there 3-hours prior...

He sounded so positive six months ago, it seems that didn't last too long though. Sad to see it closed again, but pubs are not well supported by the local residents and the government seem content to ignore the publicans plight. I guess there just wasn't enough willing customers to support two...

I've even seen them going to pick up their children from school in the afternoon wearing PJs and slippers Lyn. Wouldn't have happened even in the early 90s, when we waited in the school yard to collect our lad from primary school. That was more like a fashion parade, as I remember gold shoes...

I always remember Norman Vaughan fondly for his thumbs up greeting, something I've used since the 60s myself. Bit of a crooner too and of course for "Roses grow on you":):

Some of us still use Oky Doky ;) You are on my wavelength with those more recent phrases, especially "Hi Guys", no doubt used to promote "inclusivity", but it makes me cringe, when I hear it. :eek:

Who would have thought that phrases like these would be lost so quickly? I guess our grandparents could also offer us a list of phrases that they felt the same about, when we asked them about things that were in common use, when they were younger too. There are a few new phrases, that I would be...

Do students at either Aston or BCU actually use it in any numbers? I seldom see them in pubs, as was the case at the Turks Head and the Ben Johnson until they closed.. Like Mike at #96 above, I had thought the tram would bring it more business, they wee testing the track near there not that long...
