Thanks, it was near the multi storey car park I remember which was to the left of the building but it must have been the other side near the High Street end of Bull Street?

    TINA TURNER HAS DIED

I heard yesterday, was surprised about it as she seemed someone you could imagine would always be around somehow! I now understand she had various health problems in the last few years :pensive: She was a great artist and a real legend, RIP Tina.

I love your paintings, pleased you have been inspired to start again - sometimes it's good to have a break from things and then return with a fresh eye.

    Bobo Tourey - Edgbaston/Handsworth/Erdington

It looks like Camara to me, interestingly there is a company with connections to Africa of that name and Wiki says ... The name 'Camara' comes from a west African Bantu dialect and means 'teacher' or 'one who teaches with experience'. Many people read it as 'Camera' and pronounce it as such...

    Handsworth and Stevie Winwood

Yes, two of my cousins were there at the same time as Steve Winwood, he was a bit younger than them but they remembered him as he played the piano.

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

There was both a ballroom and a cinema there. I went to a Saturday afternoon dance (soul music) at the West End, around 1965 I guess, it was a proper ballroom with a sprung floor. I think the buildings were demolished shortly after the photograph was taken.

    Baron Davis

Baron is a fairly common name within the Jewish community (e.g. the actor Sasha Baron Cohen), it originated from the Hebrew.... Exploring its deeper Hebrew roots, one uncovers Baron's ties to the Israeli name Bar-On, which means "son of strength." So it seems, Baron is an inheriter of potency...

Telephone history: Telephone Service in Birmingham

Thanks, that was interesting, particularly as I live in London now. There are still a few of the old exchange letter and number ones about, usually on ghost signs, I know of an SHO (Shoreditch) still on the back of an old building visable from the train. Possibly still a few in Birmingham?

Marsh Hill Girls Grammar Tech School

You are younger than me but I recognise some of those names, in particular Elizabeth Taylor as I seem to remember Miss Haste, the deputy head, making a comment regarding the actress of the same name. I think there was a Richard Burton at the boy's school around the same time too! I remember...
