Not sure if we have this already but 1911 census has John with parents Arthur and Mary Ann. Plus Joseph and Beatrice living at 22 Castle Street, Netherton.

In 1921 he is listed as Willings, with his widowed father in Rowley Regis parish. He is listed as a Chain Stricker Iron. I assume that should be striker.

Mother probably died in 1915.

So he was working in 1921 but incapacitated by 1939.
Could be accident at work. (I'll check paoer site)
Could be illness or dementia.
Perhaps the death cert might provide answers.

A Joseph Mole served in Worcestershire regiment in WW1 - is this how he knew John?? He came from Rowley Regis.

joseph mole was also in the iron working trade so maybe another reason john knew him
