I still have my mothers Singer sewing machine, like the one John's fixing but really still in working order and in very good condition, even used it myself recently to knock up some curtains and car seat covers.

Not to worry it's covered by a sheet of ply, this is what it normally looks like.

Two I'm working on at the moment.
Must give a great feeling of satisfaction to be a handyman.

I applied for a job as a handyman. The guy asked me what i was like at woodwork, rubbish says i. What are you like with electrics, rubbish says i, well what are you like at plumbing, rubbish says i. The guy says, i thought you were a handyman. I am says i, i only live round the corner!

Hello everyone I am thinking of having a go at a tapestry. I am pretty good with the sowing pin, but I know its a lot more than threading a needle. I have been on the internet but for me they make it look a lot harder than it really is. We will see.

Welcome Hattie and good luck with it , be sure to keep me informed on your progress

I liked the pic in the post below and thought it would look nice with added colour so had a play with my laptop...
11 and 12 Bishopsgate Street ...Shoothill site

I've added new sky and some brick work (missing from original) behind the ladder under the arch. I don't know what make the car was and perhaps have it the wrong colour. One headlight was missing but I've replaced it. The horse behind the car seem badly parked ...:)

Edit addition ... I now think the car might be a 1920s Lanchester ...

I restore old bicycles, steel frame bikes with the proper brazed luggs, not the ugly welded modern frames of today.
It's a great feeling when you finally get bike on the road for it's first test run knowing its as good as the day it was made all those years ago

A few more.

Nice images John and shows there is more to computing than just looking at the internet.

I worked with 'solid modelling' before I retired using a program 'Pro Engineer' and did have a 'home use' copy but a change of computer lost the key. I then used Google Sketchup until they sold it to a company which only allows the free version to run online. I find doing such things with computers keeps my brain fit ... :)

Yes I used to doodle with that, great for building structures, there are several others available also, one of the best was REALDRAW , but don't know if it's still available, here's a few more.

I've found a free open source 3D modelling program named Blender.
As a first test I'm going to try and model a coffee cup like this one. It's a bit like modelling clay.

I have started (with guidance from a Youtube tutorial) and got to what is shown below. The red line on the right is the start of the handle forming.
132312
I have a feeling my cup will look a bit misshapened when finished but we will see.

Please do keep us updated, blender is an amazing programme.
This the 3D cup I've made. The handle is too thin and the blue colour has gone missing but it was a lot of fun doing it.
Blender is an amazing freebie and playing with it certainly gave my grey matter a really good workout.
I'm now going have a go at modelling a decent looking cup then have a go at a Wedgewood vase ...:D
