Barr Beacon

It did until the idiots started stealing the lead off the top and nearly destroyed it :0(

Will be in the area today, will pop in and see if any repairs have been completed,

have my doubts, and with all this rain

Today No repairs have been completed, the damage was done before April 2011, yes 2011

I know I shouldn't say this but is it worth it till they have a twenty foot electrified fence round it. Dammed shame. Jean.

dave i think the only way to stop this constant wanton distruction is to use something other than lead..there must be another material that could be used..

lyn yes they was going to sort out some material that is not attractive to steal,, we wait

How about just punishing people when they commit a crime.....not with a slap on the wrist like we do now....

Yep Mike. I'll go along with 3000 volts. Alternately you could remind people of the 'invisible bear'. When I used to cycle there with my friend she told me there was an invisible bear that lived on Barr Beacon. And yes I did believe it!! (Well I was a pretty gullible 9 year old at the time). Viv.

Thank you for the photo mrspooner. We are going a ride up there on Friday so will take another photo. Jean.
