'Rednal' House

Does anyone recognise this house in Birmingham or Rednal?

My ancestor lived there and I am hoping to find an address or see if it is still standing.

There are some map references to a Rednal House in other threads, but not sure if that is the same one or this house is somewhere else around Birmingham.

Blimey funny this thread has come up. I was only looking the other day at the above sketch map and seeing when Rednal house was demolished on maps going back....I was intrigued because of the pond inthe grounds.

Hi Janice, no I don't have access to the Census. The surnames that I know were from the Birmingham area were Matthew and Holroyd. Our old photo references the house as 'Rednal' Home of Emma Holroyd, Edgbaston. I hadn't been able to locate anything around Edgbaston, so was trying for Rednal. She emmigrated to Australia and passed away 9 July 1884. So the image may have been from well before that time. Thanks, Liz.
 
I see on the 1881 census the Emma's widowed step mother (if I have the correct family) is living on York Road, Edgbaston and the family are listed in Edgbaston in 1871.

So is it not likely that Rednal House is possibly on York Road with the name not listed?
 
I think I found the same family living on Norfolk Road in 1871 with parents Thomas and Sarah. Again no name to the house.

I couldn't see the road in 1871. In 1861 they're on Pershore Road.

From the old maps and looking at the picture I would guess that Norfolk Road is the most likely.

Do any of the neighbouring houses in 1871 list anything on their address in addition to Norfolk Road?
 
There appear to be two families that are on both the 1871 & 1881 census - Yates and Low/Lowe.

I think in 1871 the Yates family are listed 3/4 properties away and the Low/Lowe family 7/8 properties away.

In 1881 Henry Lowe is listed at Southfield, Norfolk Road which I can't see on the 1888 map. However, Janes Yates is listed at Stonebury, Norfolk Road which is marked.

No idea if that means anything.
 
Well that directory would appear to rule out Norfolk Road, though the house on the photo has a vague similarity with the map.

Could be but OP did say that it says on the photo 'Rednal' home of Emma Holroyd.

I can't see connection between the Holroyd family and the area Rednal and (though hardly conclusive) the house on the photo doesn't look much like that on the map in post #5.

It doesn't look like any house on York Road or Pershore Road (though the map would be 20 years later than that address). So that would leave either the house on Norfolk Road having had a name change or an address between the censuses. Though likely that they would have remained in the same area scouring the maps would seem pointless as the OP has mentioned.

Only other option I can see is to check the family births/baptisms, marriages and deaths/burials to see if the address is repeated.
 
Not relevant but Sarah is Thomas's second wife. Both marriages are listed on Ancestry. Father's name Kershaw so definitey the same Thomas.
