Does anyone remember Dr Pike who had a surgery in an old house on the Birchfields Road? I used to visit him when I lived in the area in 1964 but cannot remember the exact location. Does anyone have any old photos of that area or tell em whereabouts it was then. I expect most places have long since been demolished.
 
thanks john...as often the case with birchfield road 145 demolished... for those that do not know move blue dot to see what is there now..duel carriageway..we also have a large thread for birchfield road

Thread 'Birchfield Road Perry Barr'

could any one out there please help me find out the history of my shop ? i run the hairdressers on birchfield road perry barr opposite one stop called indigo blue. a few days ago i was looking at old photos of perry barr and saw one of the row of shops which mine is in the middle. i couldn't quite see my salon so it would be really interesting to see photos or read stories about what it once was especially 1950's 60's and 70's.

I was surprised to see that 145 Birchfield Road is classed as Handsworth . I expected it to be Lozells or Aston. It must be right on the boundary.

Thanks so much for such a quick responses. I lived close by in a flat in a 3story converted Victorian house that was on the opposite side of the road and about 3 houses off the main road.
There was a small general shop on the corner of the road run by either 2 brothers or a father and son. Really pleasant friendly chaps but can’t remember names. There was a lot going on in my life at this time, and my memory has blotted a lot out.
