The Cottagers Institute when i saw it in 1935 when my Sister was married was called the TocH social club opened for ex-servicemen WW2 and she held the wedding reception there, my Sister & her husband worked in the bakery trade and as Saturday was the busiest day they had to get married on a Sunday they were regular church goers at St Edburgha`s church, Canon Cochrane refused to marry them there saying he did not conduct weddings on a Sunday, so they went to All Souls church, Albert Rd and the Vicar there set up the wedding at short notice and became a life long friend needless to say they had no good things to say about Canon Cochrane and i understand many parishioners did not like him. LenAnd Church Terrace taken last week before the snow, when we took Billybob to the swings in Yardley Park... There are some delightful little Victorian houses just behind the Church next door to the Smithy and the Cottagers Institute.
