Russell Thomas, Private 9016 11th Bn Royal Warwickshire Regiment. KIA 24/06/1916. Remembered Hannescamps New Military Cemetery France. [TABLE="width: 1407"]

In that theatre of war he served for twelve months in many different sectors of the forward areas, giving services of a very valuable character. He took an important part with his unit, in the Battles of the Somme, and Loos and made the supreme sacrifice on June 24th 1916,being killed in action at Arras. He was entitled to the 1914-15 star, and the General Service and Victory Medals. 8/30 Telfourd Street, Small Heath, Birmingham.

He was also present at subsequent engagements including the battles of the Marne, the Aisne and Ypres and later was employed on the transport of rations to forward areas on the Somme, Givenchy and Cambrai. He was demobilized in February 1919 and died ten weeks after from influenza.
